How to Measure for Custom Curtains & Window Shades
Accurate measurements are the foundation of a better custom window-treatment fit. Use this guide before ordering LANTIME curtains, Roman shades, or sliding panel blinds.
Before you measure
- Use a metal tape measure where possible.
- Measure each window or opening separately, even if they look identical.
- Write down width first, then height.
- Check the product page for the exact mount and sizing requirements before ordering.
Custom pinch pleat curtains
- Measure the total area you want the two curtain panels to cover.
- Decide where the track or rod will sit and measure the finished drop from that point.
- Choose the finished width required for each panel and submit the exact finished length requested on the product page.

Inside-mount Roman shades
- Measure the inside width of the window opening in more than one place.
- Measure the inside height of the opening.
- Confirm that the window depth meets the minimum requirement shown on the product page.
- Submit the measurements requested by the product configurator; do not make your own manufacturing deduction unless the product page specifically instructs you to.
Outside-mount Roman shades
Measure the area you want covered outside the frame. For the LANTIME no-drill bamboo shades, the product guidance recommends additional overlap where space permits to improve privacy and coverage.
Sliding panel track blinds
- Measure the full width and height of the sliding door, large window, or opening.
- Decide whether the track will be wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted.
- Check clearances for handles, trim, and nearby furniture.
- Select the closest available size and submit your final dimensions carefully.
